“knowing myself”
Inspired by the ancient aphorism “know thyself,” my work examines past experiences that have shaped the way I think and defined who I am today. Through the Socratic Method, in which persistent questioning drives profound understanding, memories that have made a deep impact on my life are conceptualized and analyzed in an attempt to comprehend the nature of the experiences and the way in which they have affected me.
In my work, the idea of distress also evokes the idea of redirection as it reshapes the way we think and our outlook on life. Understanding where I come from and who I am, helps me formulate new questions regarding my own existence. It also allows me to consolidate my artistic voice, and further refine ideas regarding social issues which have always been central to my work.
